On Style and Purpose
Our style is one of varied influences—technically it is pop infused with roots of folk, clasical and jazz. Bob grew up on the Beatles, Dylan and other pop/folk artists along with mid-twentieth century jazz, while Evy grew up on Bach and Mozart. Somehow the combination, tumbled and

polished over decades of married life has produced what, we call our own unique genre mix or "Gmix".

When asked what kind of music we do, our response is that that we hope to make good art that is more inspired than formulaic, and sets the tone for compelling and inspirational messages of hope, faith, life and love.

Bob and Evy Bio

Robert Smith was born in 1952 and grew up in the Philadelphia area, and Evelyn Viss Smith was born in San Francisco in 1955 and raised in southern California, moving to the Philadelphia area with her family in her teen years. Our homes were filled with music as Evelyn's Dad was a piano major and music teacher, and Bob's folks played the classic crooners of the day. Bob won his high school talent show singing "Summertime" and "Misty". We both received scholarships to attend Art Colleges in the Philadelphia area.

We both enjoyed learning music and performing since our youth - Evy on the piano and Bob with his guitar. We met in a church in our late teens where Evy played the organ at the time, but soon married and attended a church that gave us much freedom and creative opportunity to play our original songs with keyboard and guitars...often with other really talented band members. That was the beginning of the contemporary worship scene. We raised four awesome kids and continued pursuing a dream we had — to do music together for a living.

Music was always a part of us and rubbed off on our kids as well, two of them play and sing on our CD. But it was family that came first. So after 35 years of happy marriage and family, we believe we've left a legacy. This is what some of our songs speak of, and why we write music for enduring love. We're happy we did it this way, because now, not only do we have more to write about, but we have more time to write and perform. Now we're pursuing our dream - Music for the heart and soul.
