The title for our first CD—Ballads For A Broken World, materialized largely because of our struggle to capture the essence of the deepest human needs and desires, our passion for the preservation of marriage and the family, and hopefully bringing insight and healing through the power of music and poetry. We are also fulfilling a life-long dream of making music together. Our songs unveil themes of enduring love in a world of broken relationships, the importance and power of a good influence on children, the very real battle for our hearts and minds, and joy in a life of purpose and destiny. These themes, which have been the heartbeat of our lives, summarize the lyric and musical expression we set out to create.

You can say our music has a purpose, it may also have a style, but it is definitely one of varied influences. Bob grew up on the Beatles, Dylan and other pop/folk artists along with mid-twentieth century jazz, while Evy grew up on Bach, Mozart and the classics. I'd say both sides are pretty evenly weighted. Somehow the combination, tumbled and polished over decades of married life has produced what, we call our own unique genre mix or "Gmix". When asked what kind of music we do, we are hard pressed to know what to say except that we hope to make good art that is more inspired than formulaic, and sets the tone for compelling and inspirational messages of hope, faith, life and love.

The video below is a 35 year retrospective of our life, love and family. The video features our friend, the legendary
dobro player Al Perkins, of Steven Stills and Emmy Lou Harris fame, Larry Paxton, house bass player for the Grand
Ole Opry on the fretless bass, and is set to the tune of "Reflections" one of the songs on our new CD release.

Reflections Credits: Lead Vocals: Bob Smith, harmony vocals: Evy Smith, Bob Smith, Dobro: Al Perkins,
Bass: Larry Paxton, Acoustic Guitar: Bob Smith, Keyboards: Evy Smith.
